Donald John Trump was born on June 14, 1946 in Queens, New York City. Trump is the son of Fred and Mary Trump. Trump’s father was a successful real estate developer and he instilled his son with the same work ethic. Trump attended the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a degree in economics in 1968.

After graduating from college, Trump worked as an investment banker for The Bank of Manhattan Corporation. In 1977, Trump became president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Trump Organization, and he continued to hold this position until 2015. During his time at the company, Trump built dozens of hotels, casinos, and other properties all over the world. In 2002, he began hosting The Apprentice reality television show which has been broadcast to over 100 countries and generated over $5 billion in revenue for him personally.

In May 2015, President Barack Obama nominated Trump to serve as the 45th President of the United States. Despite widespread opposition from Democrats and some Republicans, who accused him of being unqualified for office, Trump was elected to office on November 8, 2016 becoming the first Republican to be elected president since Ronald Reagan in 1980.
